| Online Sportsbooks – BetFair In Big Trouble Over Hacking Scandal |
|
Regardless of whether you’re a WWE Raw fan or an avid NHL follower, you may like to bet on sports and there are a number of online sportsbooks on the market that make it easy for you to do so. But security can be a major problem and the folks at BetFair are finding themselves in hot water over a hacking issue that occurred over 18 months ago. BetFair was the target of hackers back then, and more than three million clients had their credit cards affected by the hackers, however, BetFair was able to stop the attempt before hackers could use the information they received. This would have been fine and everyone, from those who use bookie software to casual players, would have moved along. But the real problem is, BetFair failed to notify their clients that that their credit cards had indeed been compromised as the hackers had encrypted security questions and answers, account information including addresses, bank account information and anything else you can think of when it comes to having an online sports betting account. This resulted in the resignation of their head of security, and now BetFair is going to have a tough time trying to convince customers that they are safe and more importantly, they’ll let them know if there is any type of hacking issue. This probably would have been averted if BetFair had just told their customers what had happened; now, they’ll have to work extra hard to be mentioned among the top online sportsbooks. |
