| Online Sportsbooks – BetFair Finds Itself In Hot Water |
|
Whether you’re a follower of NHL scores, or you’re a huge NFL fan, you may be looking for a new sportsbook to lay a wager on and one of the biggest things to look for is security. As we progress through the online era, keeping one’s identity safe should be a major concern and there was an incident at BetFair last month that novice sports betting players would do well to learn from. The incident actually happened early last year, as BetFair was hit by hackers who stole over three million usernames with information such as addresses and bank account details. They were able to deal with the threat as their security measures made the stolen data unusable for the criminals. However, price per head players would tell you that trust is a major factor in selecting a book as well, and BetFair failed to notify their players that there was a threat. As clients, you have the right to be told when there is any breach of security as it pertains to your personal information, and it resulted in the resignation of BetFair’s head of security. Companies have been proactive when it comes to protecting the identity and information of their clients, but incidents like this can’t be taken lightly. When choosing a new betting site, do your research to find out they have had any major problems with security, because having to worry about that will spoil your experience with online sportsbooks. |
